President Lee Meets German Chancellor, Says Cooperation Can Create Synergy; Merz Says He Will Visit Korea in October

   [Financial News, Evian-les-Bains, France = Reporter Choi Jong-geun]President Lee Jae Myung attended the Group of Seven (G7) Leaders' Summit held in Evian-les-Bains, France, on the 16th (local time). On the sidelines of the summit, Lee held a bilateral meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. Merz said he was looking forward to visiting Korea in October, and the two leaders maintained a warm and friendly atmosphere.
At the bilateral meeting with Merz at Hotel Royal in Evian, Lee greeted him and said, "It is a great pleasure to meet you like this, Chancellor." He added, "I believe Germany and the Republic of Korea are countries that can cooperate in many areas and create synergy through that cooperation."
He continued, "I hope we can listen to your views today, share some new thoughts of our own, and work together so that Korea and Germany can take a new leap forward, different from the past."
Merz responded to Lee by saying, "Thank you very much for making time for me. I also appreciate your visit to France for this G7 Summit." He added, "The most important thing seems to be dialogue with invited countries. I am very pleased that we can discuss key issues together with the G7."
He went on to say, "Our bilateral relationship is also very strong. The Republic of Korea is highly regarded in Germany, and our cooperation has been progressing well so far." He emphasized, "I am scheduled to visit the Republic of Korea at the end of October, and I hope to see you again then. I would also like you to attend the meeting we are preparing and share your valuable thoughts."
