KOSPI Reclaims the 8,700 Level...Foreign Investors Buy Again [fn Closing Market Report]

[Financial News] KOSPI closed higher, supported by gains in Samsung Electronics and SK hynix as well as net buying by foreign investors.
On the 16th, KOSPI finished trading at 8,726.60, up 180.62 points, or 2.11%, from the previous session.
The index opened at 8,698.55, up 150.57 points, or 1.76%, from the previous day. At one point during the session, it rose as much as 207.84 points, or 2.43%, to 8,753.82.
In the KOSPI Market, foreign investors drove the gains by buying 1.5339 trillion won worth of shares. Institutions also posted net purchases of 704.2 billion won. Retail investors, meanwhile, sold 2.1845 trillion won.
Among the market-cap leaders, Samsung Electronics traded at 343,000 won, up 1.78% from the previous session. SK hynix rose 4.11% to 2,382,000 won.
By sector, construction led the gains with a 7.03% rise, followed by metals at 4.90% and financials at 2.71%. Electricity and gas fell 3.28%, while IT services declined 1.66%.
The KOSDAQ Index closed at 1,018.68, down 15.35 points, or 1.48%, from the previous session.
