[Financial News] Bitcoin rose to the $66,000 level on the 16th. The move is seen as a sign that investor sentiment has recovered after the United States and Iran reached a settlement in their ceasefire talks.
According to global crypto data platform CoinMarketCap, Bitcoin was trading at around $66,000 as of 10:10 a.m., up 1.20% from the previous day on a 24-hour basis. Over the past week, Bitcoin has gained 5.75%.
Bitcoin is trading at around 99 million won in the Korean won market. Based on global crypto market comparison platform Cryprice, the Korea premium stood at -0.73%.
Bitcoin has been on an upward trend since the United States and Iran succeeded in ceasefire talks. On the 14th local time, the two countries agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for ending the war. Bitcoin also climbed from the $59,000 level on the 6th to as high as the $67,000 level at one point on the 16th.
However, analysts say prices could still fluctuate depending on macroeconomic variables. Kim Jun-seong, a researcher at Xangle, said, "This rebound is the result of easing tensions in the Middle East and falling oil prices working together to improve sentiment across risk assets." He added, "Going forward, key variables for the crypto market will be whether the Strait of Hormuz returns to normal, the possibility of another rebound in energy prices, and the Federal Reserve's inflation assessment, which will be confirmed at the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC)."
CoinMarketCap's Crypto Fear and Greed Index stood at 25 on the day, indicating "fear." The index ranges from 0 to 100. Values closer to 0 indicate "extreme fear," while values closer to 100 indicate "extreme greed."
At the same time, Ethereum was trading at around $1,790, up 4.33% from the previous day. Ripple was trading at around $1.23, up 4.36%.
