[Financial News] The Times of Israel reported on the 15th that Israel's leadership was thrown into shock after the announcement that the United States and Iran had reached a sudden agreement.
The newspaper said Channel 13 reported on the 14th that a senior Israeli government official described the deal between the United States and Iran as "a terrible agreement for us," expressing strong embarrassment and frustration. It added that the Israeli government had been fully expecting the U.S.-Iran talks to collapse, but the surprise announcement left it completely caught off guard.
Relations between the U.S. and Israeli leadership were also found to have deteriorated sharply just before the agreement.
Channel 13 reported that Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu recently held a tense phone call with Vice President of the United States JD Vance. During the call, Vance strongly urged Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to scale back its military operations and presence in Lebanon, but Netanyahu reportedly rejected the request immediately.
In this regard, a source familiar with internal Israeli affairs told Channel 13, "The IDF will not withdraw from Lebanon."
The source added, "Since Israel must continue acting on its own without an agreement with the United States, every military move by the IDF will now be subject to close U.S. scrutiny and microscopic monitoring."
