[Financial News] North Korea said that South Korea–United States relations held a Nuclear Consultative Group (NCG) meeting and reaffirmed its goal of denuclearizing North Korea, calling talk of "disarming the other side in conflict" "nonsense and an empty delusion."
In a statement released through the Korean Central News Agency on the 14th, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned and rejected "the collective nuclear confrontation frenzy of the United States-Japan-South Korea trio and the West's sinister attempts to force unconstitutional acts on sovereign states in the international arena." The spokesperson also warned of the consequences that repeated provocations could bring.
The spokesperson said that the United States and its followers' meaningless anti-DPRK rhetoric and coordinated nuclear threats could have no effect on the DPRK's irreversible status as a nuclear-armed state. The spokesperson added that "denuclearization" is "a matter that has been finally and irreversibly closed."
The statement also claimed that building a nuclear shield is a lawful process aimed at deterring outside interference and threats, safeguarding national sovereignty and security, and ensuring peace and stability in the region.
The spokesperson said that no matter how strongly the United States-Japan-South Korea trio argues, it will never change the current status of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) as a nuclear-armed state. The spokesperson added that no one will be able to revive "denuclearization," which has permanently disappeared in the course of history.
South Korea–United States relations held the 6th Nuclear Consultative Group meeting in Seoul on the 11th and issued a joint statement that explicitly reaffirmed "the shared goal of North Korea's denuclearization."
