Lee Jae-yong and John Elkann Attend Italian State Dinner... President Lee Says, "To Our Friendship"

President Lee made the remarks at the state dinner after wrapping up a summit meeting with Italian President Sergio Mattarella. He said, "In his New Year address last year, President Mattarella said that 'peace is not given automatically, but is the result of courageous choices and actions,'" and stressed cooperation for peace and prosperity.
President Lee said, "The friendship between our two countries has steadily developed over 142 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1884." He added, "Bilateral trade continues to expand, and cooperation is also broadening in future industries."
He also explained that people-to-people exchanges are active, based on mutual interest in culture and the arts.
President Lee said, "I am very pleased that, on this foundation, our two countries have today been elevated to a Special Strategic Partnership." He added, "I propose a toast to the eternal friendship and prosperity of our two nations, and to the health and happiness of President Mattarella and his wife." He concluded his dinner remarks with the toast, "Alla nostra amicizia," meaning "To our friendship."
Meanwhile, Korean business leaders also attended the state dinner. Along with Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong, business tycoons including LS Group Chairman Koo Ja-eun and Hyosung Group Chairman Cho Hyun-joon were in attendance.
President Lee and President Mattarella also held a tea conversation with Chairman Lee Jae-yong and Ferrari Chairman John Elkann.
