[The Financial News] Independent lawmaker Han Dong-hoon launched a sharp attack, saying that even the dismissal of Lee Jae-myung's indictment would be grounds for impeachment.
On the 11th, Han wrote on social media that the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) had launched the "Prosecutors' Human Rights Respect and Future Committee," adding, "The Lee Jae-myung administration set up a committee at the MOJ to push for the dismissal of Lee Jae-myung's indictment."
He said that the committee was formed by selecting people such as Kim Hye-kyung, a professor in the Department of Police Administration at Keimyung University, and Oh Chang-ik, secretary general of Human Rights Solidarity, who had publicly argued that Lee Jae-myung was innocent. "Everyone knows this is a cheap trick to have the committee say, 'Lee Jae-myung is not guilty, so dismiss the indictment,' and then drop the case. Go ahead and try," he said.
He went on to warn that if martial law is grounds for impeachment, then dismissing an indictment is too, saying that Lee Jae-myung would not be able to avoid impeachment either, following former President Yoon Suk Yeol.
Han also said that Lee Jae-myung appears to be relying on the number of DPK lawmakers, but asked whether he had forgotten that the "Motion to consent to the arrest of Lee Jae-myung" passed during his time as justice minister because some DPK lawmakers broke ranks. He then quoted DPK leader Jung Chung-rae, who is locked in a political fight with Lee Jae-myung, saying, "At every impeachment, he said, 'Regimes are short-lived, but the people are eternal.'"
