[Financial News] Independent lawmaker Han Dong-hoon said on the 11th, "Jang Dong-hyuk is an obstacle to rebuilding conservatism," adding, "He should know when to step down."
Speaking with reporters at The National Assembly of the Republic of Korea that day, Han said the People Power Party's defeat in the June 3 local elections was Jang Dong-hyuk's responsibility and suggested that he should resign.
He also addressed remarks at the People Power Party Supreme Council that called for the entire leadership to resign, saying, "Many citizens think that way," and, "No attempt to turn back the course of a great river has ever succeeded."
Responding to Jang Dong-hyuk's rejection of resignation calls on the grounds that the party should focus its efforts on the ballot shortage incident, Han criticized him, saying, "If he were not there, the focus would be sharper, and with him there, it will not be resolved," and, "It is not right to exploit claims of election fraud for self-preservation."
He also said, "Politics should be about institutional improvement in situations like this," and added, "Jang is making conservative politics look ridiculous."
