[Financial News] Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, departed Seoul on a private jet on the 9th from the Seoul Gimpo Business Aviation Center in Gangseo District, Seoul. Huang also expressed satisfaction, saying, "The hospitality in Korea was excellent" and "I look forward to coming back soon."
Speaking to reporters before departure, Huang said, "My biggest contribution to Korea is helping build the AI industry and creating the AI ecosystem." He added, "I am excited about building the future together with Korea." He also noted, "There are truly many big opportunities in Korea in robotics and AI infrastructure," and said there is also room to expand business beyond Korea through partnerships with Korean companies.
Meanwhile, Huang, who arrived in Korea on the 5th, spent his visit meeting key players in the domestic AI industry. His packed schedule included meetings with companies across a wide range of sectors, from semiconductors and data centers to robotics and AI services.
This visit focused on semiconductors, AI infrastructure, and physical AI. On the first day of his trip, he began with a dinner meeting with SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo, and NAVER board chair Lee Hae-jin. He then met in succession with Samsung Electronics, SK hynix, Hyundai Motor Company, LG, Doosan Group, government officials, and leaders of AI startups.
A common thread throughout the schedule was AI infrastructure. NVIDIA has recently been defining itself not as a GPU maker, but as an AI infrastructure company. It views data centers that train and run AI models as "AI factories" and is focusing on a business model that provides GPUs, networking, and software as an integrated package.
The topics discussed during the visit also expanded beyond the semiconductor supply chain to include data centers, AI cloud, and robotics. With Chey, Huang discussed cooperation on AI factories and data centers. With Samsung Electronics and SK hynix, he reviewed the next-generation AI semiconductor supply chain. With Hyundai Motor Company, LG, and Doosan, he discussed cooperation in physical AI fields such as robotics and industrial AI.
He also exchanged views with the government on building a national AI computing infrastructure, and with NAVER he announced plans to build a gigawatt-scale AI factory. Huang's remark that "we will build a massive AI cloud in Korea and around the world" was made in that context.
He also met with AI startups. During his meeting with domestic AI startup leaders, the discussions covered a range of topics, with a focus on generative AI, AI agents, and robotics.
