[The Financial News] Global stock markets tumbled amid a semiconductor shock from the United States, but NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang brushed aside market concerns and described the moment as a "discount period."
According to Newsis News Agency on the 8th, Huang expressed an optimistic view on the recent weakness in semiconductor stocks during a joint press briefing after meeting with SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won at the SK Seorin Building in Jongno District, Seoul.
Huang said, "It is an absolute fact that the future of AI is very bright." He added, "Just as the internet became the world's infrastructure, it is becoming a given that AI will also become global infrastructure."
He also stressed that AI infrastructure projects in South Korea (ROK) will continue, saying, "The AI buildout projects that need to be pursued in South Korea will keep moving forward."
As global semiconductor stocks came under pressure that day, the KOSPI (Korea Composite Stock Price Index) plunged more than 8% intraday on the 8th, triggering the circuit breaker mechanism and briefly halting trading. Huang, however, said, "Whatever happens to the stock market, you should be very happy," adding, "Because now you can buy at discounted prices."
His point was that, as AI industry growth continues structurally, the stock decline is not a crisis but an investment opportunity. Huang underscored his confidence in rising AI demand, saying, "We are at the beginning of building AI infrastructure. Every company will run on AI, and we are at the starting point of that journey."
He also praised South Korea's AI competitiveness, saying, "South Korea has an astonishingly rich pool of AI researchers and expertise, and it also has leadership in heavy industry and manufacturing." He added, "The combination of those two strengths makes South Korea an ideal country to take advantage of the AI and robotics era."
Huang went on to say, "Among the world's major countries contributing to AI, South Korea ranks third after the United States and China." He added, "That is an enormous achievement and provides the perfect environment to take advantage of the AI revolution."
