Gangnam Police Investigation Team Chief Who Received Room Salon Entertainment and Luxury Gifts from Yang Jung Won's Husband Said, "I Told Them to Close It as No Charges"

[Financial News] The head of the investigation team at Seoul Gangnam Police Station, who is accused of helping cover up a fraud case involving celebrity influencer Yang Jung Won, reportedly replied that he had received room salon entertainment from Yang Jung Won's husband, Lee Mo, 45, and had told others to "close the case with no charges."
On the 5th, Dong-A Ilbo reported the contents of the indictment against Lee, including charges of bribery. According to the report, Lee met then-Inspector Song Mo, who was the Gangnam Police Station Investigation Team Chief at the time, at an entertainment bar in Gangnam District on February 20 last year and provided entertainment worth 510,000 won.
Lee also provided entertainment worth about 550,000 won to Inspector Song on July 2 last year. Investigators said he also handed over gifts worth about 1 million won on July 22, including luxury scarves.
Yang Jung Won was under investigation after being accused of fraud and other offenses by franchise owners of a Pilates academy in February last year. Two days after the entertainment, on February 22, Inspector Song reportedly called Lee and said, "I called the investigator in charge of Yang's case and told him to quickly close it with no charges."
The indictment also reportedly included remarks such as, "I'll show you through the result" and "Your wife will be fine in the end."
On April 20 this year, prosecutors sought an arrest warrant for Inspector Song on bribery charges, but the court rejected it, saying there was a dispute over whether the gifts were given in return for favors.
Yang Jung Won was accused in July 2024 by franchise owners of a Pilates academy of fraud and violations of the Franchise Business Act. At the time, she was active as a model for the academy franchise and was suspected of falsely and exaggerating projected franchise earnings while pocketing payments for equipment rentals. The Gangnam Police Station's First Investigation Division, which handled the case, decided in December that year not to send the case to prosecutors, saying there was no evidence of wrongdoing.
In addition, prosecutors are said to have found signs that Yang Jung Won traded the relevant stocks while investigating Lee's alleged stock price manipulation involving a KOSDAQ-listed company.
