[Financial News] Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, who is visiting South Korea, is expected to head to a karaoke venue after a samgyeopsal dinner meeting. Known for his down-to-earth style, Huang is drawing attention for immersing himself in everyday Korean company dinner culture, following an afternoon visit to a PC bang, in what observers see as an effort to deepen ties with local partners.
According to industry sources on the 5th, Huang will visit a nearby karaoke venue after dinner at Hyeongnimjeoyo in Mapo District, Seoul, where the gathering began around 7 p.m. He is expected to be joined by Chey Tae-won of SK, Koo Kwang-mo of LG Group, and Lee Hae-jin of Naver, who attended the samgyeopsal meeting.
It is highly unusual for the head of a global big tech company to go through a typical Korean company dinner course, starting with samgyeopsal and continuing on to karaoke. The move is being interpreted as a sign of Huang's trademark friendliness, aimed at maximizing emotional rapport with Korean companies and stakeholders beyond a simple business meeting.
Huang has a full schedule during this visit. He will appear on tvN's talk show "You Quiz on the Block," meet with Kim Taek-jin, CEO of NCSOFT, in Seoul on Sunday the 7th, and throw the ceremonial first pitch at a Doosan Bears home game at Jamsil Baseball Stadium.
On the 8th, Huang will visit Hyundai Motor Company, the LG Group headquarters, and the Naver headquarters to meet with top executives. He is also scheduled to visit AIIS and the Robotics Laboratory at Seoul National University on the same day, and will hold a closed-door meeting at The Shilla Seoul with executives from major domestic AI startups and robotics startups, including Upstage.
Huang's visit to South Korea comes about seven months after his last trip in late October last year. After arriving through Gimpo Airport on the afternoon of the 5th, Huang said, "I brought a lot of business for Korea."
