This event is the first project under Samsung Electronics' expanded social contribution plan announced after the labor-management agreement in May. At the time, Samsung Electronics said it would invest a total of 5 trillion won over the next five years to promote win-win growth, build a healthy industrial ecosystem, and nurture future talent.
Samsung Electronics explained that it organized the event as a gesture of gratitude, believing that the achievements it has made in key businesses, including semiconductors, in the era of artificial intelligence (AI) were made possible by the support and encouragement of the public.
The biggest feature of this Appreciation Festival is that it will distribute Onnuri Gift Certificates. Because the certificates can be used like cash at traditional markets, neighborhood commercial districts, and small business stores nationwide, the company expects them to help stimulate consumption and revitalize local economies.
Samsung Electronics projected that the total amount of Onnuri Gift Certificates distributed during the event period will reach about 400 billion won. The company aims to create a virtuous cycle in which the benefits received by customers lead to higher sales for traditional markets and small businesses, which in turn boosts local economies.
The economic impact of Onnuri Gift Certificates has also been confirmed by statistics. According to data released in March by the Small Enterprise and Market Service, sales at stores affiliated with the certificates rose by about 4% immediately after joining the program. The sales increase effect was found to expand to 5% in the first year, 9.2% in the second year, and 12.2% in the third year.
Sales of Onnuri Gift Certificates have also continued to rise steadily. Sales, which stood at 83.15 billion won in 2015, increased more than threefold to 2.6732 trillion won last year.\r\n

The beneficiaries are estimated at more than 700,000 people, including about 500,000 military personnel and civilian employees, including active-duty soldiers; about 131,000 police officers; about 66,000 firefighters; and about 16,000 correctional officers.
The event will be held on Samsung Electronics Family Mall, the company's online platform. Since 2024, Samsung Electronics has operated the K-Hero Family Festa, offering product purchase benefits to uniformed public servants.
Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics plans to further flesh out additional social contribution measures, starting with the public appreciation festival. Measures under review include strengthening the competitiveness of the industrial ecosystem by expanding support for partner companies, broadening inclusive finance for financially vulnerable groups, and reinforcing talent development and university-industry cooperation in the AI field.
A Samsung Electronics official said, "We are continuing to think about what role companies should play in our society, while keeping the public's expectations and standards in mind." The official added, "As a company that grows together with society, we will faithfully carry out our responsibilities and role."
