Blue House: "We Expect China to Play a Constructive Role on Korean Peninsula Issues" Ahead of Xi Jinping's Visit to North Korea

[Financial News] The Blue House said on the 5th, in response to news of Xi Jinping's visit to North Korea, that it expects China to play a constructive role in issues related to the Korean Peninsula.
A Blue House official said that the government is closely monitoring related developments. The official added that it hopes China–North Korea exchanges will take place in a way that contributes to peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.
The official also said, "We are in close communication with the Chinese side through diplomatic channels regarding issues on the Korean Peninsula."
Earlier, Xinhua News Agency, China Central Television (CCTV), and the Korean Central News Agency reported that Xi would make a state visit to North Korea on the 8th and 9th at the invitation of Kim Jong Un, President of the State Affairs Commission of North Korea. It will be Xi's first visit to North Korea in seven years, since June 2019.
