[Financial News] NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, who will arrive at Gimpo International Airport on the afternoon of the 5th aboard a private jet, has chosen to meet with a domestic esports team as his first official schedule in Korea. Right after arriving, Huang will visit a PC bang in Seoul to meet T1 players, including Faker Lee Sang-hyeok, and later in the evening he will meet with leaders of major Korean conglomerates to discuss expanding a global AI alliance.
According to industry sources, Huang will visit T1 Base Camp, the dedicated PC bang for the esports team T1, located in Mapo District, Seoul, on the afternoon of the day. T1 captain Faker Lee Sang-hyeok, known as the "Emperor of LoL," and the entire team are expected to attend.
Huang, who has long expressed deep interest in Korea's PC bang culture and esports industry, is expected to encourage the players on site and discuss ways to promote esports. During his visit to Korea last year, Huang praised the symbolic importance of the country's gaming industry, saying, "If there were no PC games, PC bangs, and esports in Korea, NVIDIA would not exist today."
After finishing his PC bang schedule, Huang is expected to move to a barbecue restaurant near Hongik University Station at 7 p.m. for a "samso" gathering — a meeting over pork belly and soju — with the heads of major domestic conglomerates.
Those expected to attend include SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun, LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo, and Naver Chairman Lee Hae-jin. Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong, who joined last year's "chicken and beer" meeting, will not attend because he is on an overseas business trip.
The meeting is expected to focus on issues related to a global AI alliance worth trillions of won, including checks on the HBM supply chain and cooperation on next-generation data centers.
Meanwhile, on Sunday the 7th, Huang will meet with Kim Taek-jin, CEO of NCSOFT Corporation, before taking the mound as the ceremonial first pitcher at a professional baseball game at Jamsil Baseball Stadium. On the 8th, he is scheduled to visit LG Corporation Headquarters in Yeouido and Naver headquarters in Bundang, then stop by SNU Robotics Laboratory and Hyundai Motor Group headquarters in Yangjae-dong before departing Korea.
