\r\n[The Financial News] The People Power Party has threatened to file a lawsuit to invalidate the election over voting delays caused by ballot shortages in parts of Seoul. It also warned that it would pull all of its vote-counting observers if the counting process is not stopped.
After meeting NEC Chairman Rho Tae-ak at the National Election Commission in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi, on the 3rd, People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyeok told reporters, "I asked the NEC chairman to halt vote counting, but the response was that it was a matter for the Seoul Metropolitan Election Commission to decide and not within the NEC's authority. We are preparing a lawsuit to invalidate the election."
At a separate meeting with NEC Secretary-General Heo Cheol-hoon, Jang said, "The election itself has been seriously tainted, as there is no way to gauge what impact this may have had, so this is a matter that requires a rerun." He urged the commission to "suspend all vote counting nationwide until it is confirmed how many similar cases occurred across the country." He added, "Otherwise, we will withdraw all vote-counting observers nationwide."
The People Power Party is also considering impeachment proceedings against NEC commissioners. Party legal advisory chief Joo Jin-woo has already said he would personally introduce an impeachment motion against Rho and all other commissioners.
