Who Invested in Leveraged Bets on Samsung Electronics and SK hynix? Investors in Their 40s Lead the Pack

[The Financial News] Among investors in leveraged exchange-traded funds (ETFs) tied to a single stock, those in their 40s accounted for the largest share, according to a survey of products linked to Samsung Electronics and SK hynix.
According to the financial investment industry on the 3rd, four major domestic brokerages — Korea Investment & Securities, Samsung Securities, KB, and NH Investment & Securities — combined investor and investment data for 14 single-stock leveraged products, excluding two inverse products, from the 27th of last month to the 1st of this month. The total came to 70,850 investors and 327.55 billion won.
Investors in their 40s made up the largest group, with 20,489 people, or 28.9 percent. They also accounted for the biggest share of investment amount, at 102.25 billion won, or 31.2 percent. Investors in their 50s followed at 28.7 percent, those in their 30s at 22.2 percent, and those in their 60s at 11.5 percent.
At the end of last year, investors in their 50s and 60s held the largest shares in the stock market. In single-stock leveraged products, however, investors in their 40s have emerged as the biggest group.
According to KSD, as of March, in the status of shareholders of listed companies with a December fiscal year-end, individual shareholders in their 50s accounted for the largest share at 23.1 percent, followed by those in their 40s at 21.8 percent. By number of shares held, investors in their 50s accounted for 34.4 percent and those in their 60s for 26.6 percent, while those in their 40s accounted for just 18.6 percent.
By investment amount, investors in their 50s followed those in their 40s, with 912.5 billion won, or 27.9 percent. Investors in their 30s accounted for 19.4 percent, those in their 60s for 12.9 percent, and those in their 20s for 5.5 percent.
