Genesis Magma Racing has unveiled the new look of its GMR-001 Hypercar ahead of its debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in France. With a magma orange and deep red gradient inspired by the energy of volcanic landscapes on the Korean Peninsula, along with Korean lettering running across the body, the team aims to make Genesis' identity unmistakable on the track.
The key feature of the livery unveiled by Genesis Magma Racing on the 1st local time is color. The gradient, which flows naturally from vivid magma orange at the front to deep red at the rear, immediately draws the eye.
Magma orange was inspired by the volcanic terrain of the Korean Peninsula and the energy flowing beneath it. At the same time, it also symbolizes the Korean sense of humble confidence, a cultural trait that combines inner strength with restraint. The deep red at the rear visually expresses the heat of a high-performance engine, as well as the acoustic shift created by the Doppler effect when a race car speeds past at full throttle.
The body also features lettering that spells out 'Magma' in Korean. In contrast to the body color, a reverse gradient was applied, shifting from red at the front to magma orange toward the rear, adding a sense of rhythm to the overall design.
Two GMR-001 cars, No. 17 and No. 19, will compete at this year's Le Mans. While the base design is the same, No. 19 is distinguished by white Genesis and Genesis Magma Racing logos, along with additional highlights, setting it apart from No. 17's orange-and-black combination.
Genesis Magma Racing worked closely with its technology partner HEXIS to ensure the gradient delivers the best visual effect both when stationary and at full speed. HEXIS's latest-generation wrapping film is a highly conformable material specially developed to keep colors vivid from any angle. In addition, HEXIS's BODYFENCE paint protection film is applied transparently over the livery to protect the paint from the harsh conditions of endurance racing, including high-speed airflow, heat, and debris from the road surface.
