South Korean Embassy delegation in Vietnam meets Hai Phong vice chairman to discuss expanding cooperation

[Hanoi, Vietnam = Bu Thi Tien] A delegation from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Vietnam, led by Minister and Consul General Seo Wonsam, met with Hai Phong city leaders to discuss ways to expand cooperation between South Korean local governments, institutions and companies, and Hai Phong.
According to local media on the 2nd, the embassy delegation, headed by Seo Wonsam, minister and consul general at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Vietnam, visited Haiphong City Hall and met with Hoang Minh Cuong, vice chairman of the Hai Phong City People's Committee, to exchange views on expanding cooperation in the economy, trade and investment, as well as consular issues.
At the meeting, Seo expressed gratitude for Hai Phong's warm hospitality and said the city's importance in the development of South Korea-Vietnam relations and bilateral economic cooperation continues to grow.
He also said, "I would like to express my deep appreciation for the Hai Phong city government’s active support for the local production and business activities of South Korean companies, as well as for serving as a partner in helping South Korean residents settle and work safely here." He added, "I hope this visit will help further strengthen multifaceted cooperation between South Korean partners and Hai Phong in the future."
Earlier, Vice Chairman Cuong welcomed Seo's decision to choose Hai Phong as one of his first major destinations after taking office. He also introduced the city's recent economic and social achievements, along with its competitiveness and potential.
He explained that "Hai Phong is a leading industrial, logistics and port hub in northern Vietnam's key economic region, and one of the country's major destinations for foreign direct investment (FDI)." He added that, as of April this year, South Korea was Hai Phong's largest foreign investor, with 321 projects and total registered capital of $15.47 billion, or about 23 trillion won.
He also stressed that "Hai Phong has maintained double-digit growth for years and, along with extensive infrastructure in economic zones and industrial parks, has recently approved and implemented a range of specialized policies and systems, including the establishment of a Free Trade Zone (FTZ)."
Vice Chairman Cuong said he expects Seo to actively support efforts to expand cooperation between South Korean partners and Hai Phong in diverse areas such as the economy, science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, tourism and green transition.
He said, "Hai Phong always regards South Korean partners as our most important partners." He added, "We will continue to cooperate closely to resolve issues of interest to the South Korean side, including energy, labor and administrative reform." He also said, "We will create a more favorable environment for South Korean companies and citizens to invest, do business and live in Hai Phong," and added that he hopes to maintain close cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Vietnam for that purpose.
