\r\n[The Financial News] Jeong Won-oh, the ruling DPK's candidate for Seoul Metropolitan City Mayor, appealed to voters on the 2nd, the day before the main voting in the local elections, calling it "an election to give momentum to the Lee Jae-myung administration."
At a press conference at the National Assembly with 25 district mayoral candidates, Jeong said, "Tomorrow's election is not simply about choosing one Seoul mayor. It is an election to give momentum to the Lee Jae-myung administration." He added, "The Lee Jae-myung administration must succeed. To do that, we must win both the Seoul mayor race and the 25 district mayor races."
Jeong said, "Only then can we address housing worries, commuting worries, business worries, and childcare worries one by one." He added, "Jeong Won-oh and the DPK as one team will run together with the Lee Jae-myung administration. We will definitely change South Korea and Seoul."
In early opinion polls for the Seoul mayoral race, People Power Party candidate Oh Se-hoon held a wide lead, buoyed by the soaring approval ratings of President Lee Jae-myung and the DPK. But as the election approached, both camps consolidated, and the race tightened.
Jeong said, "As expected, it will be a very close race." He added, "But I am confident that I will win and secure a new leadership."
He also raised the issue of "holding Oh Se-hoon accountable." Jeong said, "In this election, voters will deliver a stern judgment on the opposition, as well as on candidate Oh's 10 years of incompetence, irresponsibility, and complacency." Regarding Oh's raising suspicions about Jeong's time as district mayor of Seongdong-gu, he added, "Voters will also judge candidate Oh, who has stuck to negative campaigning until the very end."
