A fire broke out at the Hanwha Aerospace Daejeon Plant in Oesam-dong, Yuseong District, Daejeon Metropolitan City, at 10:59 a.m. on the 1st, and fire trucks were dispatched to the scene. Fire authorities have issued a first-level response and are working to extinguish the blaze with 44 vehicles and about 100 firefighters.

[Financial News] An explosion occurred at the Hanwha Aerospace Daejeon Plant in Oesam-dong, Yuseong District, Daejeon Metropolitan City, on the morning of the 1st, leaving five people dead and two injured.
According to the National Fire Agency (NFA), a report of the explosion at the Hanwha Aerospace Daejeon Plant was received at 10:59 a.m. that day. Believing there was a risk of multiple casualties, fire authorities issued a first-level response at 11:17 a.m.
The fire was brought under control at 11:49 a.m., about 50 minutes after the report was received, and was fully extinguished at 1:07 p.m. Fire authorities lifted the first-level response one minute later, at 1:08 p.m.
The accident caused a total of seven casualties. Five people were confirmed dead, while one person was seriously injured and another sustained minor injuries.
Fire authorities believe an explosion of unknown cause occurred inside the plant. Police and fire officials plan to investigate the exact circumstances of the accident, whether there were any additional casualties, and whether safety regulations were properly followed.
