According to the National Election Commission (NEC) on the 31st, 10,498,411 of the 44,649,908 eligible voters took part in the local election early voting held on the 29th and 30th. The figure was up 2.89 percentage points from the 20.62% early voting turnout in the 2022 8th local elections.
Turnout was 11.6% on the first day of early voting, the 29th, and 11.91% on the second day, the 30th. By region, South Jeolla Province (Jeonnam) ranked first among the 17 cities and provinces with 38.95%. It was followed by Jeonbuk State at 35.05% and Gwangju Metropolitan City at 27.83%.
The region with the lowest early voting turnout was Daegu at 18.65%. Gyeonggi Province came next at 20.96%, followed by Busan at 21.29% and Incheon at 21.62%. Seoul, considered the biggest battleground, recorded an early voting turnout of 23.84%.
Early voting turnout for the by-election for members of the National Assembly in 14 districts nationwide came in at 24.12%. The Gunsan-Gimje-Buan district in Jeonbuk State posted the highest turnout at 42.59%. It was followed by Gongju-Buyeo-Cheongyang in Chungcheongnam-do at 30.16% and Gunsan-Gimje-Buan A in Jeonbuk State at 29.71%. The lowest turnout was in Dalseong County, Daegu, at 17.56%. Buk District, Busan, a closely watched battleground, recorded 25.57%, while Pyeongtaek E in Gyeonggi Province stood at 18.39%.
