\r【Financial News Chuncheon=Kim Ki-seop】The People Power Party leadership, including party chief Jang Dong-hyuk, mobilized in Gangwon on the 30th to support Kim Jin-tae's bid for governor. In the afternoon, lawmaker Jin Jong-oh, known as the "shooting king," also joined the campaign bus, concentrating firepower in the final stretch.
Jang Dong-hyuk and Kim Jin-tae visited the construction site of the Chuncheon–Sokcho Line in Chuncheon to inspect progress. They were joined by a large number of party figures, including Jeong Gwang-yeol, the candidate for mayor of Chuncheon, Kang Dae-gyu, head of the organizing committee, standing campaign chiefs Lee Yoon-jin and Choi Ji-ye, and Supreme Council member Cho Kwang-han. Jang said, "It was the People Power Party government that made this a presidential campaign pledge, turned it into a state-funded project, and got it through the preliminary feasibility review." He added, "Kim Jin-tae managed to break ground under difficult circumstances, so please give him the chance to finish the job."
The attacks on candidate Woo Sang-ho also continued. Jang said, "Woo Sang-ho knows nothing about this project and has treated Gangwon residents like 'people from that area.' Does it make any sense for him to now say he wants to be governor?"
After the site inspection, the two moved to Gongjicheon Intersection and held the calligraphy performance before the joint rally. Kim Jin-tae wrote the first half of the scroll, "Dae-dong," while Jang Dong-hyuk completed it with "Dan-gyeol." When they lifted the finished banner together atop the campaign truck, the crowd erupted in cheers.
At the joint rally, Kim Jin-tae focused on the controversy over Woo's lack of knowledge about his own pledges, which had surfaced during a televised debate. Kim said, "A candidate who does not even know where the Gwangdeok Tunnel is or where Jeongjari is wants to become governor." He added, "What is the point of reading campaign leaflets if they contain things that the candidate does not know and even ghosts would not know?"
In the afternoon, Jin Jong-oh, the Chuncheon-born "shooting king," boarded Kim's campaign truck in the plaza in front of the Gangwon State Government building and toured the city together. Jin said, "Kim Jin-tae is someone who has served as both a lawmaker and a governor, and he knows the region's key issues better than anyone and has dealt with them directly." He appealed, "For the future and pride of Gangwon, please unite Gangwon's true strength behind Kim Jin-tae."
Meanwhile, Gangwon's early voting turnout reached 27.05 percent, or about 359,700 voters, the highest ever for a local election. Kim Jin-tae's camp called it the starting gun for an overwhelming victory, saying the result reflected residents' response to their earnest commitment to Gangwon's development through events such as the Halli-diary campaign, the tenacious relay campaign, and overnight campaigning.
Kim Jin-tae will begin his schedule on the 31st with a service at Chuncheon Central Church, then head to Gangneung for a 500-person endorsement declaration by Gangwon sports figures, a visit to the Gangneung Senior Citizens Association, and a joint rally on Wolhwa Street, continuing his intensive final push to win over undecided voters.
