Early Voting Sets Record for Local Elections on First Day... Turnout Reaches 11.60%

Nationwide turnout on the first day of early voting for the 9th Nationwide Local Elections on the 29th reached 11.60%.
According to the National Election Commission (NEC), early voting for the 9th Nationwide Local Elections began at 6 a.m. at 3,571 polling stations nationwide and ended at 6 p.m.
The first-day early voting turnout stood at 11.60%, with more than 5.18 million voters participating out of 44,649,908 eligible voters.
That already exceeded the first-day overall early voting turnout of 10.18% in the 2022 8th Nationwide Local Elections.
Unlike the main vote, early voting, which runs through the 30th, allows voters to cast ballots at any designated polling station nationwide regardless of their registered address. Voting hours are from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
