[Financial News] A police officer who subdued a man wielding a broken soju bottle with his bare hands after visiting a restaurant with a friend on his day off has drawn attention.
On the 26th, the Korean National Police Agency YouTube channel uploaded a video titled, "Did he subdue a man holding a soju bottle with his bare hands?!"
The video showed Park Ji-hoon, a patrol officer at the Sangyeok Police Substation under the Daegu Bukbu Police Station, subduing a man who was causing a disturbance with a broken soju bottle at a restaurant in Daegu on the 10th of last month.
At the time, Park had visited the restaurant with a friend and noticed a group arguing at a nearby table. Then one man broke a soju bottle and appeared to try to stab the others.
Park, who had been closely watching the situation, immediately rushed to the table. He grabbed the man from behind and restrained him so he could not resist.
As Park held the man down, the restaurant owner quickly collected the broken bottle. Park's friend evacuated the victims outside the restaurant.
After separating the group involved, Park calmed their agitation and brought the situation under control. He then reported the incident to the local police box, and officers arrived to wrap up the case.
Even on his day off, Park did his best to help maintain public safety in the community. He said calmly, "I will be a police officer who can step up again when a similar situation happens."
