[Financial News] Samsung Electronics' average turnover rate over the past five years was lower than SK hynix's. In particular, the rate for its Device Solutions Division, which handles semiconductors, was only in the 1% range.
According to Newsis on the 29th, an analysis of the sustainability reports of Samsung Electronics and SK hynix showed that the companies' average turnover rates from 2020 to 2024 were 2.1% and 2.3%, respectively. Samsung Electronics' figure was 0.2 percentage points lower than its rival's, and the gap widens further when limited to the semiconductor business.
What stands out is that this differs sharply from an analysis claiming that Samsung Electronics' turnover rate of 10.1% was nearly 10 times higher than SK hynix's resignation rate of 1.3%. The difference appears to stem from the fact that Samsung Electronics calculates turnover based on all employees, including local production workers at large overseas manufacturing sites in places such as Vietnam and India.
By contrast, SK hynix calculates its figures using only domestic employees. In other words, Samsung Electronics' total figure reflects a structural difference, as it includes overseas production workers who tend to have higher turnover. An industry source said, "It is unreasonable to compare figures from a global company with large overseas production bases and a company centered on domestic operations on the same footing."
