International oil prices closed mixed on the 28th local time.
Expectations that the United States and Iran would agree to extend the ceasefire weakened the early gains.
Axios, CNBC and other foreign media outlets reported, citing sources, that the negotiating teams of the two countries had agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding to extend the ceasefire by 60 days and begin discussions on Iran's nuclear program. The sources added that final approval from U.S. President Donald Trump was still needed.
Amid expectations of a ceasefire extension, oil prices ended little changed from the previous day.
Brent Crude Oil for July delivery, the global benchmark, fell $0.58, or 0.62%, from the previous session to close at $93.71 per barrel.
Meanwhile, West Texas Intermediate crude oil (WTI) for July delivery, the U.S. benchmark, rose $0.22, or 0.25%, to finish at $88.90 per barrel.
