In May 2019, Jeon received money from an acquaintance, Mr. B, residing in Dangjin, South Chungcheong Province, by deceiving him by saying, "If you invest with me, I will add interest to your principal.
" Subsequently, in January 2020, when Mr. 96 million won on four separate occasions by claiming, "You must pay a fee to receive the principal and interest.
" The court sentenced him to two months in prison, suspended for one year, for the crime committed prior to December 19, 2020. Afterward, Mr.
Jeon was sentenced to prison for another fraud case and served his sentence before being released on parole. However, during his parole period from July to August 2022, he approached Mr.
9 million won transferred to him on 20 occasions. The court sentenced him to 10 months in prison for the crimes committed after June 28, 2021.
Regarding the reasoning for the sentencing, Presiding Judge Im pointed out, "The amount of damages is not small, and the defendant has a history of being punished multiple times for similar crimes," adding, "This crime was committed during the parole period and the probationary period, making it highly reprehensible. " Furthermore, the court emphasized that "he has not received forgiveness from the victims, nor has the damage been fully recovered.
" However, the court ruled that "the sentence was determined by comprehensively considering factors such as the defendant admitting to all the crimes, the partial repayment of damages, and the principle of equity in the event of simultaneous trials with other cases where judgments have been finalized. 5 billion won between April 2022 and October 2023 by posing as the hidden heir of a famous company and deceiving them with claims of "secret investment opportunities known only to chaebols" (fraud under the Act on Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes).
In addition, charges of assaulting and threatening the middle school-aged niece of his former girlfriend, former national fencing team member Nam Hyun-hee (violation of the Child Welfare Act, etc. ) were added, resulting in a final sentence of 13 years in prison, which was confirmed.
He is currently serving his sentence at Cheongju Women's Prison.
