\r[Financial News] Han Byung-do, parliamentary leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, criticized People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyuk on the 26th, saying he is "close to a far-right YouTuber."
At the meeting held at the National Assembly that day, Han said, "Some lawmakers and candidates, including the party leader, are not only shielding far-right forces that have openly insulted 5·18 and democracy, but are also dragging their reckless behavior into the election campaign, inciting hatred and ridicule and deepening public division."
He also pointed out that they were distorting and belittling President Lee Jae Myung's legitimate call for social unity and a healthy civil society, while even resorting to outdated red-baiting to insult the president, who represents the people.
He added, "No matter how urgent the election may be, politicians must observe at least the minimum standards of conduct. The People Power Party is looking only at the far right, which is destroying South Korea's democracy and community," and said, "It is once again denying the end of insurrection, the recovery of livelihoods and major social reform, while claiming to be the heir to Yoon Suk Yeol's insurrection forces."
He went on to lash out at Jang and the PPP, saying, "All you get from begging the far right for votes is the collapse of conservatism."
