[Financial News] BTS met more than 60,000 fans at Allegiant Stadium in the United States on the 23rd local time, kicking off their world tour, "BTS World Tour 'Arirang' in Las Vegas."
According to Big Hit Music on the 25th, more than 60,000 people attended the opening show, and all four scheduled performances sold out.
During the concert, world-renowned DJ Steve Aoki, who took part in the remix version of "Mic Drop," made a surprise appearance in the audience and energized the venue. In particular, all 60,000 fans sang along in unison to the "Arirang" section of "Body to Body," a track from the group's fifth full-length album, turning the entire stadium red-hot.
BTS said, "This stadium is a very meaningful place for us. When we performed here four years ago, only some people could join because of COVID-19," adding, "We are deeply grateful to everyone who waited for us without change for so long."
Meanwhile, ahead of the Las Vegas shows on the 23rd to 24th and the 27th to 28th, BTS has been running the citywide project "BTS The City Arirang — Las Vegas" since the 20th. After painting the city purple, BTS's signature color, during their 2022 concert, the group has now filled Las Vegas with red, the symbolic color of the new album "Arirang."
In particular, a wave of red spread across the Las Vegas Strip, the city's key commercial district, while more than 30 digital billboards across the city carried the "BTS Welcome OOH Takeover" to greet the group.
Meanwhile, BTS will attend the American Music Awards (AMA) at 5 p.m. on the 25th local time, in the middle of their world tour.
This will be their first in-person appearance at the AMAs in about five years, since 2021. They were nominated for the top prize category, Artist of the Year, where they will compete with nine global pop stars including Bad Bunny, Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga. BTS became the first Korean act to win the award in 2021.
They were also nominated in three categories in total, including Best Male K-pop Artist and Song of the Summer. In the Song of the Summer category, the title track "SWIM" from their fifth full-length album "Arirang" was nominated.
