[Financial News] President Lee Jae-myung said on the 24th, marking Buddha's Birthday in the year 2,570 of the Buddhist calendar, that "our society today also urgently needs the spirit of consideration and understanding that harmonizes and embraces different views, and a warm heart that seeks coexistence and mutual growth rather than survival of the fittest."
In his congratulatory remarks at the Buddha's Birthday Dharma Ceremony that day, Lee said, "I pray that the Buddha's great compassion fills the entire world," and made the remarks above.
Lee said, "The Buddha's teachings have long shared in the joys and sorrows of our lives, and whenever the nation has faced crisis and grief, they have healed the people's pain and become a refuge for marginalized neighbors."
He added, "Even amid war and poverty, disasters and social conflict, the lights of temples have never gone out," and said, "That is why our people have been able to pause in front of temples and find peace of mind whenever they grow weary of life."
Lee also said that the Buddha's teaching to understand one another rather than exclude, and to unite rather than confront, has clearly been a strong pillar that has made our society a more resilient community.
He said, "The Buddha said that hatred does not disappear through hatred, but only through compassion," emphasizing the spirit of consideration and understanding that transcends social conflict.
Lee said, "Our People-sovereignty government will take these precious words of the Buddha as its guiding light," adding, "We will build a country that pays closer attention to each and every person's life and listens to the voices from the lowest places."
He continued, "Above all, we will do our utmost to build a government that saves people's lives, and we will put into practice the teaching that all people are noble and everyone is equal."
Lee also stressed, "Keeping deeply in mind the spirit of harmony and integration, we will overcome the crises facing our people and our nation with united strength."
He added, "I hope that each lotus lantern lighting up the nation today will become a light of hope that connects people's hearts and brightens South Korean society into an even warmer community, and I hope the Buddha's compassion and wisdom will spread more widely and deeply throughout the world."
