[Financial News] As police have determined that the allegation that actor Kim Soo-hyun dated the late actor Kim Sae-ron when she was a minor was a 'false fabrication,' Lee Jun-seok, leader of the Reform Party, said, "I hope actor Kim Soo-hyun's honor is restored to the starting line of all this."
On the 22nd, Lee wrote on his Facebook page, "First, I offer my deepest condolences for the late Kim Sae-ron. I hesitated to write this, fearing it might create other misunderstandings about the death of a young actor, but I decided to say a few words because a social atmosphere that is quick to fuel sensational allegations but passive about restoring reputations is what nourishes cyber-racketeers."
He also posted a screenshot of an article saying that on the 20th, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office requested an arrest warrant for Kim Se-ui, head of the YouTube channel Garo Sero Research Institute, on charges including violations of the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes, defamation, and other offenses.
Kim is accused of spreading false claims through YouTube broadcasts and other channels that Kim Soo-hyun dated Kim Sae-ron when she was a minor, and that the direct cause of Kim Sae-ron's death was pressure from Kim Soo-hyun's side to repay debts. He is also accused of defaming Kim Soo-hyun by fabricating false information with the help of generative AI to manipulate Kim Sae-ron's voice.
In response, Lee said, "A fabricated messenger screen, an AI-generated voice, and a hit-job scenario pieced together from photos anyone can find with a quick search. Investigative authorities have confirmed that the weapons used to destroy one person's private life, career, and dignity were ultimately nothing more than a handful of forgeries." He added, "This matter will now receive a final judicial ruling in court."
He continued, "But the ads have already been cut off, the projects have stopped, and the person has been broken. None of those things can be restored by a single page of investigative results." He also pointed out, "Public squares for assigning blame are always full, but the places where honor is returned are always silent."
He went on to say, "The moment an allegation is raised, one person's life can collapse in a single day. Even after it is proven false, it takes years to return to the place that was lost, and in many cases, people never make it back."
Finally, Lee said, "I will always be ready for the day when we can see Kim Soo-hyun, one of Korea's leading actors, return with a good work, and for the applause we will send him that day." He added, "Once again, I offer my deepest condolences for the late Kim Sae-ron."
Meanwhile, a pre-arrest suspect hearing for Kim is scheduled to be held at the Seoul Central District Court on the 26th.
