[Financial News] A forecast has emerged that the ultimate goal of entering a top university and landing a professional job will eventually shift into building credentials to become an "attractive YouTuber."
On the 15th, a video titled "The reason for going to top universities, international schools, and medical, dental, and Korean medicine schools = to become an attractive YouTuber" was uploaded to the YouTube channel "Yunauri."
Lee Dong-wook, a former medical school professor who runs the channel, offered his outlook on how the rapid advance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) will change the value of high academic credentials and reshape future jobs.
Lee said, "In the age of AI, the reason for human existence is gradually disappearing," adding, "As AI develops, demand for my profession declines, and most work done by humans is eventually replaced by AI, erasing the value of our existence."
He then pointed to a trend in which elites in various fields, including doctors, lawyers, idols, and athletes with strong credentials, are ultimately gravitating toward the YouTube platform.
Lee predicted, "The reason for working in a professional field will become building credentials in order to survive among the many YouTubers in this red ocean," and added, "In the end, only influencers will survive, and credential-building will become a process for becoming an attractive YouTuber."
He also said that the purpose of attending international schools and learning English is likely to shift toward running YouTube channels aimed at the global market.
Lee said, "The basis for all these changes is AI," and added, "As AI reduces jobs, only a small number will survive."
He also mentioned YouTube's content summary feature, noting that viewers can now grasp the substance of videos in a short amount of time.
Lee stated, "Because AI absorbs the information itself, the content is no longer important," and added, "In the end, the YouTuber must be attractive."
He continued, "For that to happen, YouTubers will also need credentials," and predicted, "As good jobs gradually disappear, the purpose of building credentials will change in the future."
"It may sound absurd now, but five or 10 years from now, we may look back and see people struggling to become attractive influencers and YouTubers," he said.
Lee said people in their 20s and 30s may not fully feel this change yet, but infants and teenagers today will experience it.
Finally, he predicted, "The endpoint of career-building is highly likely to move beyond getting into a top university or becoming a professional and toward becoming an attractive YouTuber who earns dollars."
