[Financial News] The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry said it welcomed the provisional wage agreement reached the previous day between Samsung Electronics and its labor union.
In a statement on the 21st, KCCI said, "We are relieved that Samsung Electronics' labor and management reached an agreement through dialogue just one day before the planned general strike." It added, "The two sides kept the lines of communication open until the end, and the government's active mediation also played a role."
It also said, "At a time of intense global competition for technological dominance, avoiding the worst-case scenario of a shutdown at a semiconductor production line that must operate around the clock carries great significance not only for Samsung Electronics, but also for countless partner companies, the materials, parts and equipment ecosystem, and the broader national economy."
KCCI added, "We hope this case will help our labor-management relations move beyond wasteful confrontation and instead protect industrial competitiveness and jobs through trust and cooperation."
