[Financial News] Jun Young-hyun, the chief of Samsung Electronics' Device Solutions Division, stressed organizational stability and unity, telling employees that "we must put the time of conflict behind us and pull together as one." The move is seen as an effort to calm internal tensions and strengthen cohesion after labor-management disputes over a revised bonus system nearly escalated into a general strike.
In a message sent to employees in the Device Solutions Division on the 21st, Jun said, "The labor union and the company have reached a tentative agreement on the 2026 wage negotiations." He added, "This was possible thanks to the dedication of employees who stayed focused and gave their best at their posts throughout the long negotiation process."
He continued, "Although there were differences during the talks, we were able to confirm that we all share the same commitment to the company." He also said, "There must have been considerable concern and disappointment during the negotiations, and I take that very seriously."
"I sincerely thank the labor union and its members for their hard work in reaching an agreement through dialogue and compromise, even under difficult conditions," he said. "Taking this agreement as a starting point, the company will work even harder with a stronger sense of responsibility to enhance global competitiveness and achieve sustainable growth."
The union will hold a vote among its members from 2 p.m. on the 22nd to 10 a.m. on the 27th on the tentative agreement, which was signed on the morning of the same day just before the planned general strike.
Ahead of the vote, Jun said, "I ask everyone to unite for the future of the company and its members." He added, "What matters now is leaving the time of conflict behind and moving forward together as one." He said, "I believe that if we work together based on mutual respect and trust, we can achieve another greater leap forward."
