[Financial News] Annie, a member of the mixed-gender group AllDay Project, whose real name is Moon Seo-yoon, has graduated from Columbia University in the United States.
According to The Chosun Ilbo and others on the 20th, Annie attended Columbia University's graduation ceremony in New York the previous day.
Videos from the ceremony were shared on social networking services (SNS), showing Annie attending the event in a white mini dress, a light blue graduation gown, and a cap.
In the video, Annie walked onto the stage when her name was called, shook hands with a university official, and waved to the camera as she stepped down, saying, "I love DAY ONE."
Ahead of her graduation, Annie posted a video on her Instagram on the 12th with the brief caption, "D-7."
In the video, Annie wore a white mini dress and a light blue graduation gown, swayed to the music, held her cap, and smiled slightly.
Meanwhile, Annie, the granddaughter of Shinsegae Group chairwoman emerita Lee Myung-hee and the eldest daughter of Shinsegae chairwoman Chung Yoo-kyung, debuted in June last year as a member of the mixed-gender group AllDay Project.
Even before her debut, Annie drew major public attention and said that her family, including Chung, had initially opposed her idol debut.
In a documentary released before her debut, Annie said, "My family strongly opposed my debut as a singer," adding, "But when I said I couldn't give up, my mother told me she would help persuade the rest of the family if I got into college."
Chung set admission to an Ivy League school as the condition, and Annie later gained acceptance to Columbia University.
Annie said, "I gave up sleep to prepare for the entrance exams and got into college," adding, "My mother said she never thought I would actually get in."
Annie, who majored in art history and visual arts at Columbia University, returned to school this spring semester and continued her studies. During this period, she stayed in New York, focused on campus life, and also carried out some scheduled activities during the semester. She also kept in touch with fans through her YouTube channel, including live broadcasts of "Study With Me."
