\r\n[The Financial News]  Rain will fall across the country on the 20th, with heavy downpours concentrated from late afternoon. Rain that begins in the Chungcheong region and the southern provinces at dawn will spread nationwide from the morning, and strong showers of around 20 to 30 mm per hour are expected in central areas, the southern coast, and the mountainous areas of Jeju Province. As the rain falls, daytime temperatures will drop to seasonal norms, easing the recent heat.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) on the 19th, rain that started in Jeju on this day will expand to the Chungcheong region and the southern provinces early on the 20th. From the morning of the 20th through the afternoon of the 21st, rain is expected nationwide, and showers may continue until the evening of the 21st in Gangwon State's east coast and mountainous areas, as well as in Jeju Province.
Expected rainfall for the 20th to 21st is 30 to 80 mm in Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi Province, and the Five West Sea Islands. Some areas along the western coast of Incheon and Gyeonggi Province, as well as the Five West Sea Islands, may receive more than 100 mm. Gangwon State's east coast and mountainous areas are forecast to get 50 to 100 mm, while the mountainous areas of Gangwon State could see more than 150 mm. Inland Gangwon State is expected to receive 30 to 80 mm.
In the Chungcheong region, 30 to 80 mm of rain is expected in Daejeon, Sejong City, South Chungcheong Province, and North Chungcheong Province. Some parts of the northern west coast of South Chungcheong Province may see more than 100 mm. In the Gyeongsang region, 30 to 80 mm is expected in the east coast of North Gyeongsang Province and the northeastern mountains of North Gyeongsang Province. The northern part of Jeju Province is forecast to receive 10 to 60 mm.
The rain is expected to be strongest from late afternoon on the 20th through the morning of the 21st. Along the western coast of Incheon and Gyeonggi Province, as well as the Five West Sea Islands, rainfall of 20 to 30 mm per hour is expected from late afternoon on the 20th through early morning on the 21st. Seoul, inland Gyeonggi Province, inland Gangwon State, the Chungcheong region, and the southern coast of Jeonnam are forecast to see around 20 mm per hour during the same period. Strong rain of around 30 mm per hour may fall in the mountainous areas of Jeju Province and the southern mid-mountain areas.
In areas where rain falls, gusts and thunderstorms may also occur. The KMA said people should be careful about collapsed retaining walls and embankments, landslides from mountainous and cut-slope areas, and damage to crops. Visibility will also be reduced and many roads will become slippery, so caution is needed for traffic safety during the commute.
Winds will also strengthen. From the afternoon of the 20th, strong winds with gusts of around 55 km/h are expected in most parts of the country. In mountainous areas, gusts may reach around 70 km/h. In particular, from the night of the 20th, the western, eastern, and mountainous areas of Jeju may see very strong winds with gusts of more than 70 km/h, and mountainous areas could experience winds exceeding 90 km/h. A Strong Wind Advisory may be issued for some parts of Jeju.
Sea conditions will also worsen. A Marine Gale Warning has already been issued for the far offshore waters of the southern West Sea, where strong winds and waves of 2.0 to 4.0 meters are expected through the night of the 21st. From the afternoon of the 20th, the warning may expand to the central West Sea offshore waters, and from the morning of the 21st it may also be extended to the East Sea, the southern sea, and Jeju Island waters.
Vessels heading out for navigation or fishing should be careful to avoid accidents. On the 20th, thunderstorms and gusts may occur in the West Sea, the southern sea, and Jeju Island waters, and on the 21st they may also occur in the East Sea.
As the rain falls, the recent heat will ease. Morning temperatures on the 20th will remain above average, but from the afternoon onward they are expected to return to seasonal levels. The forecast low for the morning of the 20th is 15 to 19 degrees Celsius, and the daytime high is 18 to 23 degrees Celsius.
The low on the morning of the 21st is expected to be 14 to 18 degrees Celsius, with a daytime high of 17 to 24 degrees Celsius. On the 22nd, most of the country will be mostly clear, but Jeju Province is expected to be cloudy, with rain in some areas from morning through afternoon.
