[The Financial News] Actress and YouTuber Lee Hae-in, who had previously spoken about the burden of high loan interest and vacant units tied to her real estate investment, shared an update on social media while mentioning Samsung Electronics and SK hynix, two of South Korea's leading semiconductor stocks.
On the 18th, Lee Hae-in posted a short video on her social networking service (SNS) account along with a message that read, "If I had bought Samsung Electronics instead of a building, or (SK) hynix."
She added, "One side has vacancies and leaks, the other has financial freedom. But well, I already bought the building."
The video included in the post showed Lee Hae-in drying her hair, along with the caption, "If I had bought stocks instead of a building with 1 billion won." In the following scenes, she appeared to struggle with real-world problems such as vacancies, leaks, interest payments, and various utility bills.
By contrast, the video also depicted her imagining a life of financial freedom after buying shares in Samsung Electronics and (SK) hynix.
Before that, Lee Hae-in had shared an update saying that the burden of managing the building had eased somewhat as the vacancy problem improved.
On the 18th of last month, Lee Hae-in revealed her current asset management situation on SNS, calling it "the building people said would not work." She explained, "I started with six vacant units, and out of 12 million won in interest, I am paying 6 million won myself." She then said, "Now two units have been filled, and the burden has been reduced by about 3 million won." She added, "Four units are still left, and I am continuing to fill them."
On the 8th, Lee Hae-in also took part in a direct marketing campaign for a group purchase of men's underwear, saying she was trying to ease the financial strain that grew after buying the building. At the time, she said, "To pay 12 million won in interest, I do all kinds of things. I even started a group purchase for men's underwear," adding that it would be "perfect as a gift for a boyfriend." She went on to say, "I am really working hard just to pay the interest."
She also admitted to the management difficulties she faced after becoming the owner of an asset worth more than 4 billion won. On March 15, she wrote on SNS, "Monthly interest: 12 million won. Monthly rent: 6 million won," and asked, "If you were in my place, would you hold on or sell?"
She then said, "If anyone is looking for commercial space, please contact me by DM or email," and added, "I will keep sharing the process of filling the vacancies." Lee Hae-in reportedly purchased a building worth about 4 billion won in February using a loan of around 3.2 billion won.
