\r[Financial News] Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi arrived in Andong, North Gyeongsang Province, on the 19th. President Lee Jae Myung greeted her in person, welcoming her with honors comparable to a state visit. Earlier, Takaichi also made a surprise visit to President Lee's lodging in Nara, Japan, when the two leaders held a summit there in January this year.
\rPresident Lee and Prime Minister Takaichi will soon hold a small-group summit followed by an expanded summit, and then issue a joint press statement. At the summit, the two sides will discuss the future direction of Korea-Japan relations in depth. In particular, since President Lee and Prime Minister Takaichi recently held direct phone calls with U.S. President Donald Trump to discuss the outcome of the U.S.-China summit, related issues may also come up. They are also expected to address developments in the Middle East and the Indo-Pacific.
\rAfter the summit, President Lee and Prime Minister Takaichi are scheduled to have dinner featuring fusion Korean cuisine with local Andong touches. They will then attend a performance of Seonyu Julbul Nori, Andong's traditional firework display, and Pansori at Hahoe Folk Village.
