[Hanoi, Vietnam = Correspondent Vu Thuy Tien] Samsung Electronics Vietnam Co., Ltd. and the Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee met to discuss ways to further strengthen their cooperative ties.
According to local media on the 19th, Na Gi-hong, Head of Strategic Cooperation at Samsung Electronics Vietnam Co., Ltd., said during a meeting with Tran Luu Quang in Ho Chi Minh City on the 18th that Samsung Electronics Vietnam Co., Ltd. recorded sales of $64.9 billion and exports of $57.1 billion in 2025, while cumulative investment had already exceeded $24 billion. He added that Samsung had been able to operate stably and continue investing thanks to the strong attention and support of the Vietnamese central government and local governments, and expressed his gratitude.
Na also emphasized that, as the largest foreign-invested company in Vietnam, Samsung has contributed broadly to the country's socioeconomic development by helping build an industrial ecosystem, advancing core technology research and development, creating jobs, and boosting exports. He added that the company is currently running various programs to cultivate highly skilled talent and support local Vietnamese companies.
In response, Tran Luu Quang thanked Samsung for its contributions to Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City's economic development, saying that Samsung's growth model in Vietnam is "one of the most exemplary cases" of the close and friendly cooperation between Korea and Vietnam.
Quang also made three proposals to Samsung. He said that, as Ho Chi Minh City bears the important responsibility of leading Vietnam's scientific and technological development, he hoped Samsung, which has extensive expertise in this field, would actively support the city in small but meaningful ways, help nurture highly skilled talent to lead the science and technology sector, and strengthen the capabilities of local Vietnamese companies so they can enter global supply chains.
Quang also promised that Ho Chi Minh City will eventually introduce a Special City Law and be granted broader powers. "Through this, Ho Chi Minh City will establish an institutional mechanism that allows it to build mutually beneficial and equal partnerships with Samsung and other global companies," he said.
