[Financial News] Police were dispatched after a woman in her 50s, who had boarded a passenger plane, realized belatedly that she had left a knife in her bag and reported it on her own.
According to the Incheon International Airport Police Unit on the 18th, a report came in at around 6:20 p.m. the previous day that a knife had been found on a passenger plane bound for Abu Dhabi departing from Terminal 1, Incheon International Airport.
The knife belonged to a woman in her 50s identified as A, who was on the flight. Just before takeoff, she told a flight attendant, "There is a knife in my bag."
A was found to be carrying an actual 9-cm knife. She reportedly told police, "I peeled fruit on the airport limousine bus on the way to the airport and then put the knife in my bag."
Police determined that there were no signs of criminal intent, including terrorism, and plan to investigate the details of the security screening process.
A was found to have passed through the security checkpoint at Incheon International Airport and boarded the plane without any particular interference during departure procedures. A police official said, "A has already departed as scheduled," adding, "We will conduct further investigations into whether the Aviation Security Act was violated, including by questioning those in charge of the security checkpoint."
