[The Financial News] Vladimir Putin is set to visit Beijing on the 19th for a summit with Xi Jinping, foreign media reported.
The Kremlin said Putin is scheduled to arrive at Beijing Capital International Airport on the 19th and begin his official itinerary.
Wang Yi, China's foreign minister, is expected to greet Putin at the airport.
The two leaders' main meeting is scheduled for the following day, the 20th.
The Kremlin said Putin and Xi will hold a summit at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing and then attend an official welcome banquet.
A spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China said the talks will "deeply discuss China-Russia relations and cooperation in various fields, as well as international and regional issues of mutual concern." The spokesperson added that this state visit will be Putin's 25th trip to China in total.
Putin's visit to China is drawing global attention because it comes immediately after the major U.S.-China summit between Xi and Donald Trump, which lasted several days in Beijing last week.
As the international landscape shifts rapidly, attention is focused on how closer China-Russia alignment will affect the future balance of global power.
