[The Financial News] The second application period for the High Fuel Price Relief Fund, which provides up to 250,000 won per person to 36 million people in the bottom 70% of income earners, begins on the 18th.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS) said applications will be accepted from 9 a.m. today until 6 p.m. on July 3.
About 280,000 people who missed the first application period can also apply this time.
The amount varies depending on where recipients live. Residents of the Seoul metropolitan area will receive 100,000 won, while those in Non-metropolitan areas will receive 150,000 won.
Residents of Preferential Support Areas in Depopulation Regions will receive 200,000 won, and those in Special Support Areas will receive 250,000 won.
Eligibility is based on the total amount of health insurance premiums paid in March.
For a single-person household with an employee-insured member, applications are allowed if the health insurance premium, excluding the Long-Term Care Insurance Contribution, is 130,000 won or less, equivalent to an annual income of about 43.4 million won.
A separate special standard applies to dual-income and other multi-income households.
However, high-asset households were excluded from the payment target if the total assessed value of Property Tax last year exceeded 1.2 billion won or if total financial income surpassed 20 million won.
The relief fund can be received as credit card or Debit Card points, a Local Love Gift Certificate, or a Prepaid card. Applications can be made through card company websites, local government gift certificate apps, or administrative welfare centers in the applicant's neighborhood.
The deadline to use the relief fund is August 31, and any unused balance will expire automatically after that date.
Use is limited to the local government where the recipient is registered. Eligible merchants include stores with annual sales of 3 billion won or less and micro enterprise shops.
However, given the purpose of the program, the funds can be used at gas stations regardless of the merchant's sales volume.
