[Financial News] Ahn Sung-jae has shared how he feels about the controversy over the inadequate wine service at the restaurant he runs.
On the 14th, Ahn Sung-jae posted on social networking service (SNS), "In a world that feels increasingly chaotic, I am trying to stay grounded in gratitude. I am thankful to everyone who believes in my sincerity."
Ahn tagged the official account of the magazine for which he served as a cover model and shared his thoughts. It drew attention as his first public comment since the recent controversy surrounding the restaurant's operations.
Earlier, a post on SNS and an online community sparked the dispute after a customer, identified as A, who had visited Ahn's restaurant, claimed that a different vintage than the one ordered was served during a wine pairing service.
A said that even after raising the issue on site, he did not receive an appropriate apology or a detailed explanation. After the story spread, criticism grew online over the restaurant's customer service and wine service system.
As the backlash intensified, the restaurant issued an official apology on its SNS, saying, "We caused confusion by failing to provide accurate guidance during the wine pairing service, and we disappointed customers by not offering a sufficient explanation in our follow-up response."
The restaurant also said, "Chef Ahn Sung-jae and all of our staff are taking this matter very seriously. We will not stop at a perfunctory apology and will work to restore trust."
However, some consumers criticized the statement for not clearly explaining how the wrong wine was served or who should be held responsible.
As the controversy continued, Ahn posted a separate, lengthy statement on SNS on the 6th. He bowed his head and said, "I once again sincerely apologize for disappointing you with the inadequate service recently at Mosu. Everything is my responsibility."
Meanwhile, as critical comments continued to pour in on Ahn's YouTube channel, the production team recently announced that it would temporarily suspend new content uploads, saying it would take time to reorganize.
