KOSPI Touches 7,991.04 Intraday Before Falling Back Below 7,900 [fn Afternoon Market Update]

[Financial News] The KOSPI Composite Index is seeking to settle above the 7,900 level on the 14th, supported by buying from individual investors.
As of 2:47 p.m. that day, the KOSPI Composite Index was trading at 7,884.76, up 40.75 points, or 0.52%, from the previous session.
The index opened at 7,873.91, up 29.90 points, or 0.38%, from the previous session. It also touched an intraday high of 7,991.04 around 10:38 a.m., but later gave back its gains.
In the Korea Exchange Main Board, foreign investors and institutions were net sellers, offloading 2.2977 trillion won and 476 billion won worth of shares, respectively, while individual investors were net buyers of 2.6618 trillion won.
Among the top 14 stocks by market capitalization, Samsung Life Insurance, Samsung Electronics, and Samsung Biologics were among the gainers, rising 4.90%, 2.11%, and 1.42%, respectively.
On the other hand, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), Doosan Enerbility, SK Square, and Kia Corporation were among the biggest decliners, falling 8.59%, 3.33%, 3.19%, and 2.45%, respectively. The KOSDAQ was trading at 1,179.12, up 2.19 points, or 0.19%, from the previous session. It opened at 1,187.02, up 10.09 points, or 0.86%, from the previous close of 1,176.93.
The won–dollar exchange rate opened at 1,489.8 won, down 0.8 won from the previous session's daytime closing level of 1,490.6 won.
