[Financial News] Jang Dong-hyuk, leader of the People Power Party, pressured Cheong Wa Dae (The Blue House) on the 14th, saying, "Instead of chasing after a national dividend, I hope you will stop the Samsung Electronics strike first."
\rAt a Supreme Council meeting held that day at the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, Jang said in response to the 'national dividend' mentioned by Chief Presidential Secretary for Policy Kim Yong-beom, "The very idea of repeatedly obstructing everything and then trying to forcibly take money as if it were earned by their own efforts is typical gangster mentality."
\rHe said, "Even as a Samsung Electronics strike that could cause losses of tens of trillions of won is becoming a reality, Lee Jae Myung is only obsessed with collecting money." He added, "Kim Yong-beom's national dividend is exactly Lee Jae Myung's true intention."
\rJang said, "Excess profits or excess tax revenue are not money that Lee Jae Myung earned by doing well. Lee Jae Myung and the Democratic Party of Korea have no right to take credit in the first place." He added, "During the semiconductor downturn, the People Power Party pushed the K-Chips Act to revive the semiconductor industry, but the Democratic Party of Korea fiercely opposed it, calling it a special favor for conglomerates. If our party had not worked until the end to pass the K-Chips Act, we would not have been able to ride the current semiconductor supercycle."
\rHe went on to say, "The Democratic Party of Korea also opposed investment in nuclear power generation. If Moon Jae-in's nuclear phaseout had succeeded, would the current semiconductor boom have been possible?" He also pointed out that "it still opposes the exemption clause for the 52-hour workweek in Semiconductor R&D."
\rJang emphasized, "The money Lee Jae Myung is distributing to win approval ratings and buy votes will ultimately become debt that future generations must repay." He added, "Lee Jae Myung has rapidly increased debt, pushing national debt above 1,300 trillion won. It is no exaggeration to call this a supercycle of debt."
\rHe also said, "If excess tax revenue is generated, the first priority should be to pay down debt." He added, "The public should not be deceived by the absurd claim that fiscal tightening is populism."
