\r\n[Financial News] The Blue House said on the 14th that reports claiming it had ordered a review of how to use the extra tax revenue expected to surge on the back of a semiconductor boom were "not true."
A Blue House official said, "The government is constantly discussing economic conditions, tax revenue trends and the direction of fiscal investment," and made the remarks in response.
However, the official denied that the administration was at a stage of reviewing how to use the semiconductor windfall tax revenue.
Earlier, Kim Yong-beom, Chief Presidential Secretary for Policy, wrote on Facebook on the 11th that "the fruits of the era of artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure are not the result of a specific company alone" and that "some of those fruits must be structurally returned to all citizens."
Kim also proposed a so-called "national dividend policy," which would return part of the extra tax revenue generated by the boom in AI infrastructure companies, including semiconductors, to the public. It is understood as a concept to redistribute to citizens some of the extra tax revenue created by excess profits at AI infrastructure companies such as Samsung Electronics and SK hynix.
The Blue House later drew a line, saying that "the content posted on social media by the chief secretary for policy was a personal opinion unrelated to internal discussions or reviews at the Blue House."
