[Financial News] The preliminary autopsy of an 11-year-old elementary school student, identified as A, who went missing at Juwangsan National Park in Cheongsong, North Gyeongsang Province, and was later found dead, indicated that the cause of death was "injury caused by a fall."
According to the Gyeongbuk Provincial Police Agency and the Daegu District Prosecutors' Office on the 12th, the autopsy of A confirmed that finding. A decision on whether to conduct a full autopsy to determine the exact cause of death is expected later in the day.
A's funeral altar is expected to be set up in Daegu, where the family lives.
A went missing after visiting Juwangsan National Park with family on the 10th and then setting out alone on a hike, after which contact was lost.
Authorities deployed more than 350 personnel, including police, firefighters and the Korea National Park Service, along with helicopters, drones and rescue dogs. On the morning of the 12th at around 10:13 a.m., they found A dead in a wooded area about 400 meters from the trail leading toward Juwangam Hermitage near Juwangsan Mountain's main peak.
Police said their investigation found that A did not have a mobile phone on the day of the disappearance and had not brought one from the family's home in Daegu. Based on the autopsy results and the scene, police are investigating the exact circumstances.
