[Financial News] A Korean manager in his 40s has been arrested for violently assaulting a Vietnamese worker in his 20s.
According to Yonhap News and others on the 12th, Kim Hong-seop, the chief judge in charge of warrants at Suwon District Court, held a pre-arrest hearing for the man, identified only as A, who is accused of assault, and issued an arrest warrant, saying, "There is a risk he may flee."
A is accused of assaulting B, a Vietnamese worker in his 20s, in the dormitory of a cosmetics container manufacturer in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi, where he worked as a manager, in November last year.
Investigators found that A punched B in the face and head-butted him at least 22 times.
B suffered injuries including a concussion, but it was reported that he later reached a settlement with A's side after receiving 600,000 won, including medical expenses.
B has since recovered from his injuries and is said to have no lingering complications.
After MBC reported the case, police launched an investigation.
Police, who took up the case, requested a pre-arrest warrant for A on the 30th of last month.
A reportedly admitted to the crime during questioning by police.
Police plan to investigate the details of the case and then send A to prosecutors.
Meanwhile, the Gyeonggi Regional Employment and Labor Office under the Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL) has formed a task force to examine whether the Labor Standards Act was violated.
