[Financial News] President Lee Jae-myung said, "Complaints are not an annoying task to avoid, but the will of the people that public officials should respect and explore," and urged officials not to give evasive, false-hope responses.
On the 12th, President Lee made the remarks on his X account, citing an article that introduced the government's new policy to appoint conflict mediation officers at each agency.
He emphasized, "Complaints contain the voices of the people that should be respected and carried out, and they are like a treasure chest full of tasks for government reform."
He also dismissed concerns about so-called malicious complaints. President Lee explained, "Repeated complaints that have become chronic wear down the complainant's life and waste administrative resources," but added, "It is not common for people to knowingly make unreasonable claims. Misunderstandings, distrust, and ill will can be resolved to a large extent through sincere dialogue and respect."
He continued, "If you invest enough time and have a deep conversation with a sincere and respectful attitude, many complaints can be resolved," adding, "When something cannot be done, simply explaining the reasons step by step and rationally, with evidence, can resolve many complaints."
He particularly stressed, "Evasive false hope such as 'Let's work on it together' or 'We will actively review it,' used to temporarily placate angry complainants who already know it cannot be done, is absolutely unacceptable," and said, "I thank all public officials handling conflicts who are doing their best, and I place great expectations on you."
In response, Jung Il-yeon, chairperson of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, replied, "I will take your words deeply to heart." President Lee then encouraged her again, saying, "I trust you, Chairperson. Please do not forget the public's expectations."
